Rip Va Winkle Triathlon #1 / Post 2

Well, I’m done. On the way there is started raining, but it stopped before the triathlon started. The road was still wet when we started, and it resulted in a lot of flat bicycle tires (10+). There was also a good bit of debris on the road from the weather last night, and this morning. Photos from the event.
The swim was not bad at all for me, being my first OWS I was concerned going into it. When I was almost at the halfway point I saw about 3 people hanging on the back of a kayak. It seemed like a lot of people needed some type of assistance during the swim. I finished the swim (400 Meters) in under 9 minutes. My last swim was 150 Meters and took me close to 6.
The bike ride was fine, except for all the flat tires. Probably 2/3 of the people with flats did not have a spare tube or repair kit, and just walked back. I had ordered a trainer that came in yesterday I played around on a little bit. When I got on my bike to start the bike portion of the race, it was still in a high gear. It cost me a little time, and is not one of those things that I’m going to put on my pre-race check list.
The run was through the nursery on a pea gravel road. There was a SAG station at the beginning of the run, and another near the turn around point. Running is by far my weakest point right now.
