Yam City Triathlon

Today I ran in my second triathlon. This one was a little bit further than the first, swim from 80 meters to 150, and bike from 10 miles to 14. It took me 14 Minutes and 38 seconds longer to complete than the last, so my overall pace was much better. The run is still really hard for me forcing me to walk most of the way. I have 1 week to get ready for the next one. I’m already nervous about my first open water swim (400 meters).
| Event | Distance | Time |
|---|---|---|
| Swim | 150 Meters | 3 min 47 sec |
| Bike w/ trans | 14 Miles | 53 min 12 sec |
| Run | 2 Miles | 26 min 21 sec |
| Total | 1 Hour 23 Minutes 21 Seconds | |
I feel this tri was better than the City Club Mini Tri. This one seemed too have alot more people, and people of all levels. Even though the city club one was much smaller, it seemed there were not that many first timers. I am guessing people just didn’t know about it since it was not USAT sanctioned.

Came across your blog. City club tri was my wife’s first tri also. We both did Yam, it was my first tri. We are both trying to get in shape and lose weight also(not pro’s). We are both signed up for the cajun man in Sept. We are both pretty scared of that 800m open water. Good luck and congrats.

Thanks for writing and congrats to you and your wife. I wrote the tri-cajuns group awhile back, and they suggested going to Chicot State Park to practice the open water swim. If I can get some of them to go out there one weekend, I’ll let you know. The whole safety in numbers thing.
