Golf Ball WOW – Sham WOW Spoof

About two weeks ago, while my boss was out of town, I decided to make this video. It is a spoof of the shamwow commercial. It showcases one of the unique product lines we offer at golfballs.com, Photo Golf Balls.

The main purpose of this video is to get new people aware of the product line, and hopefully golfballs.com. We even launched a website Golf Ball WOW.

ASP.NET Rewrites

In an attempt to help drive up rank for used golf balls, I started using ISAPI re-write to rewrite all product and category page. Instead of something like http://www.usedgolfballs.com/Page?page=1 we now have http://www.usedgolfballs.com/Titleist/Used-Golf-Balls.html. This should help us with the term Used Titleist Golf Balls.

New Used Golf Balls Source

Last week I ordered some used nike golfballs from usedgolfballs.com. The order was shipped via FedEx very quicly, and the (mint condition) balls look like they are almost brand new. The only down side that I found is you have to buy 3 dozen at a time, but on the other hand shipping was reasonable.

Still fighting for rank

It’s been a few days now and I am having more trouble getting my new domain picked up by google. I’ve been on a camapign to generate as many back links to Robin Bonin as I can. Today we added two new sections to the golfballs.com site. One for golf tees and another for golf gloves. It will be interestng to see how long it takes for those to get picked up.

Is Page Rank That Easy?

2 days ago I decided that I wanted to get some page rank. I have had my blog for over a year and posted pretty regular. I know I get picked up by google pretty quickly but I still had no page rank.

I made 1 post 2 days ago trying to gain page rank. This post was nothing special, the only thing of any significance was the category and the tags.

Worpress.com has a page for each popular tag and category. Each post that has that particular tag or keyword shows up. My post from 2 days ago automaticly generated 4 back links for 4 diffrent wordpress.com page. These pages had good Page Rank.

This one post was able to boost me from no page rank to a 2 in just two days. I know that I am going to be cycled off of those pages pretty quickly so I’m not sure if there will be any long term benifit. It is just need to make a post and get such a positive response in just a few days.

In Search of Page Rank

I just noticed recently that my blog has a page rank of 0. I’ve spent a lot of time in the past researching SEO but I have never spent any time makng a push to actually gain search rank or page rank. Today I am starting a campaign to gain a page rank of 3 for this, my personal blog.

This first post is following the recommendations of this Gaining Page Rank blog post. I have also started commenting on many other blog post all providing backlinks to my site.

We will see how this works. I’m looking forward to adding my Page Rank Badge to my layout soon.

Printing XPS Files

I hada  little issue today wen trying to print a XPS file. Turns out in Vista the XPS file viewer is IE. When my default browser became firefox, the .xps files became associated with firefox even though firefox can not open these files. The simple solution was to open ie, and drag the file into there. Problem solved, just one of those things that made me scratch my head and think “what could have broken this?”

Twins on the way

I now have a pair of twins on the way. Thus ultrasound was from this past Thursday and they both measured at 8 weeks and 3 days.

I had to hold off on posting anything here, I had a few people that I wanted to make sure we were able to tell in person. We were able to tell most of the people we wanted to already, I’m sure there are a few that we missed. Allison is keeping a detailed blog on the pregnancy here.

Farm Fest 5 Mile Run

Tonight I decided to do the 1st Annual Farm Fest 5 mile run at the Sugar Mill Pond sub-division. There was a 1 mile and a 5 mile route. Unfortunately there were not that many people there for the race. It looked like there were just 2 kids and 1 adult signed up for the 1 mile run. There were about 35 participants in the 5 mile run.

The race course started followed the roads that are all brand new and in great condition. At some point it detoured on to a side walk, then onto a short grass pathway, onto some gravel that connected to another brand new road. We ran the same pathway on the way back to the finish line.

I finished the race close to last with a time of 1 hour and 43 seconds. I was really happy with my time, and I was able to run a large portion of the race non-stop. I believe I past the halfway point non-stop, but there were no markers on the course to let you know the distance.

This was a race that I decided to do last minute. As of right now, I think I will do the UL Triathlon next weekend, although I wasn’t really planning on it before.
